Our client a multibillion dollar player in the upstream and downstream sector in the Nigerian oil and gas industry require urgently the services of a Project Accountant
PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of projects within the organization. This includes budget management, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The right candidate will act as a bridge between the project management and finance teams, ensuring that project financials are accurately tracked and reported. The ultimate goal of the Accountant is to support project managers in making informed financial decisions and achieving project goals.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Accountant
The Accountant will play a vital role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of the Company’s project. Here are the core responsibilities that define this role:
· Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all expenses are accounted for and within approved limits.
· Prepare regular financial reports for project stakeholders, highlighting key metrics and any variances from the budget.
· Monitor project expenses and identify areas for cost savings while ensuring compliance with financial policies.
· Oversee the invoicing process for project-related expenses and ensure timely payments to vendors and subcontractors.
· Assist project managers with forecasting future financial performance based on current project status and historical data.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to financial regulations.
· Work closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial objectives and reporting.
· Analyze financial data to identify trends and insights that can inform project decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Proficiency in accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
· A keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
· Ability to analyze financial data and generate insights for project management.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder interaction.
· Proactive in identifying financial issues and implementing solutions.
· Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
· A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Experience: 5 – 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a project-based environment.
· Professional certifications such as CPA or ACA can be advantageous.
· Familiarity with project management software and accounting tools such as QuickBooks, SAP, and very strong in the use of Microsoft Excel.
