Title: Accounts Receivable Representative
Reports To: Revenue Billing Manager
Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Representative will be responsible for analysis of receivables due from healthcare insurance companies and initiation of necessary follow-up actions for reimbursements. The work includes a combination of voice and non-voice follow-up along with undertaking appropriate denial and appeal management protocols.
Job Functions and Duties:
1. Ensure accurate and complete account follow-up by demonstrating a thorough understanding of carrier-specific reimbursement as applicable to claim processing to include: eligibility discrepancies, 1500/UB04 claims form preparation, DRG, per diem, case rate reimbursements, etc.
2. Conduct appropriate activity on accounts by contacting government agencies, third-party payors, and patients/guarantors via phone, e-mail, or online. Continue reimbursement activity until account resolved
3. Document all follow-up activity taken on an account in the patient account notes
4. Taking appropriate actions to ensure payments and adjustments have been posted properly as well as identify applicable accounts for secondary billing and follow-up
5. Research and assess correspondence and accounts for balance accuracy, confirm correct payor billed, coding accuracy, denials, and outstanding insurance requests
6. Provide documentation appropriately and submit corrections; or if payor error, escalate for re-processing in a professional and timely manner
7. Request additional information from patients and payors as needed
8. Review payor contracts to determine expected reimbursement from claims, identify underpayments, and draft payor demand letters
9. Identify billing or coding issues and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed
10. Identify payor issues and trends, and escalate those issues to Management
11. Ensure compliance with State and Federal Law Regulations for Managed Care and other Third-Party Payors
12. Perform follow-up work and other duties upon request.
Qualifications:
1. Must possess a university degree from a reputable university with one to three years of experience.
2. Education or coursework in medical coding is desired.
3. Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
4. Excellent multi-tasker with high attention to details.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Punctual and time-sensitive.
7. Target oriented with an AR resolution mind set.
8. Team player with a strong analytical background.
9. Strong knowledge of Health care AR.
10. Keen eye for process and quality improvement.
11. Organized and detailed oriented.
Salary: 200,000 gross
