Job Description

Our client, a leading Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) company in Nigeria, serving domestic, commercial, and industrial customers nationwide is recruiting to fill the following roles:

ROLE: POWER OPERATIONS MANAGER – DC & AC
Location: Lagos; Salary: 1.2Monthly net with bonus and commission.

Role summary: The role is responsible for the DC & AC Power Marketing, Sales and Operations strategy execution and performance monitoring in the Company. The Head Power Operations is responsible for implementing and managing business activities, special power projects and initiatives aimed at growing the Company’s installed megawatts (MW), as well as ensuring operational efficiency on a site-by-site basis, growth and profitability over the long-term.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a comprehensive development strategy for the efficient operation and growth of the Company’s power and energy systems business.
• Develop and manage processes and controls suitable for strategies as agreed and approved from time to time.
• Manage power and energy systems from procurement through the value chain through to installation, commissioning and operation.
• Liaise effectively with the COO in order to ensure that power products are effectively executed.
• Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards at all times for all Power Operations and Business Development staff (including field staff and contractors).
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements for operating as a DC & AC power business in Nigeria, including good relationship with key agencies such as Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority (NMDPRA), Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and other regulatory agencies.

Ensure effective management and training of all relevant staff for the efficient running of our Power operations.
• Develop reports for weekly submission and monitoring of activities to the COO and ExCo (Executive Committee).
• Any other duty as assigned by Management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Engineering degree or equivalent engineering qualifications
• At least 15 years’ experience in the development of small/large scale power projects including budgeting, progress reporting and operational management.
• Good understanding of all aspects of process safety within a hazardous environment and risk assessment techniques.
• Good understanding of piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and computer aided design (CAD) based design systems
• Good understanding of the key tenets of milestone-based project management
• Procurement and tendering experience including broad understanding of procurement/bid processes, critical stock management etc.
• Contracts’ negotiation including: service level agreements (SLAs); power purchase agreements (PPAs); operating and maintenance (O&M) contracting; equipment supply etc.
• Development and presentation of project investment cases

Knowledge & Skills Required

• Knowledge and understanding of gas fired power plants
• Understanding of LPG, LNG and CNG power systems
• Interactions with Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
• Knowledge of planning submissions for small scale power projects
