Job Title: Herds Manager

Job Summary
Are you a seasoned livestock professional with a passion for managing large-scale herds? We are seeking an experienced Herds Manager to oversee the health, nutrition, and productivity of our cattle herds.
The Herds Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the cattle herd, ensuring the health, nutrition, and productivity of the animals.
This role requires a proactive approach to managing herd health, nutrition, and breeding programs, as well as collaborating with other farm staff to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Herd Health Management:
Develop and implement herd health programs to prevent and control diseases.
Collaborate with veterinarians and other farm staff to diagnose and treat animal health issues.
Nutrition and Feeding Management:
Develop and implement feeding programs to optimize animal growth and productivity.
Monitor and control feed quality, quantity, and costs.
Breeding and Reproduction Management
Develop and implement breeding programs to improve herd genetics and productivity.
Monitor and control breeding and reproduction processes to optimize animal fertility and productivity.
Herd Management and Record Keeping
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of herd health, nutrition, breeding, and productivity.
Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, and make recommendations for improvement.
Staff Management and Training
Supervise and train farm staff on herd management best practices.
Collaborate with other farm staff to achieve business objectives.
Key Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in livestock management, preferably in a managerial role.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of livestock management principles and practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in record-keeping and data management software.
