General Manager

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead DoubleTree by Hilton Asaba through the final stages of pre-opening, launch, stabilization, and profitable operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with Hilton brand standards while delivering exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, sustainable revenue growth, and superior returns for ownership.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a hands-on hotel executive with proven experience in pre-opening and operating internationally branded hotels in emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead the hotel through pre-opening, launch, and post-opening stabilization.
•Ensure full compliance with Hilton brand standards, operating procedures, and quality requirements.
•Drive operational excellence across Rooms Division, Food & Beverage, Commercial, Finance, and Human Resources.
•Deliver revenue growth through effective sales, marketing, revenue management, and business development strategies.
•Build and develop a high-performing leadership team and workforce.
•Maintain strong relationships with owners, government agencies, corporate clients, and community stakeholders.
•Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and full hotel P&L performance.
•Achieve guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and profitability targets.
Mandatory Requirements-Professional Experience:
Candidates must have:
•Previously served as General Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations, or equivalent leadership role in a Hilton, Marriott, or comparable internationally branded hotel.
•Direct involvement in a hotel pre-opening project.
•Successfully led or participated in transitioning a hotel from pre-opening to operational stabilization (minimum 12–24 months post-opening).
•Experience within a hotel of approximately 150–300 rooms is highly preferred.
Leadership Experience: Candidates should possess:
•10–15 years of progressive hotel leadership experience.
•Minimum of 5 years in a General Manager or equivalent executive leadership role.
•Demonstrated responsibility for full hotel P&L management.
•Experience overseeing hotels generating annual revenues in excess of USD 5 million.
Pre-Opening Expertise:
The successful candidate should have led or played a significant role in:
Project Mobilization:
•Operational readiness planning
•Departmental setup and activation
•Procurement planning
•FF&E activation
•OS&E procurement
Recruitment & Talent Development:
•Recruitment of executive committee members and department heads
•Hiring and onboarding of 150–250 employees
•Workforce planning and organizational design
•Development of local talent pipelines
Systems Implementation:
•Property Management Systems (PMS)
•Revenue Management Systems
•Point of Sale (POS) Systems
•Financial and accounting systems
•Hilton brand operating systems
Opening Execution:
•Soft opening coordination
•Brand audits and compliance reviews
•Government inspections
•Licensing and regulatory approvals
•Opening sales and marketing campaigns
Operational Expertise Required: Rooms Division:
Strong operational knowledge of:
•Front Office Operations
•Housekeeping
•Guest Relations
•Revenue Management
Food & Beverage:
Demonstrated experience managing:
•Multiple food and beverage outlets
•Banqueting operations
•Conference and meeting facilities
•Corporate and social events
Commercial Leadership – Proven ability to:
•Increase Average Daily Rate (ADR)
•Improve Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR)
•Build and retain key corporate accounts
•Develop airline, government, and institutional business
•Grow MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) revenue streams
