About the Role
ALIMA is seeking a Medical Doctor to provide medical care for children under five, particularly those with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and other paediatric conditions.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess, admit and manage children with SAM and other paediatric conditions (0–59 months).
• Conduct outpatient and inpatient consultations in line with ALIMA protocols.
• Diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments and monitor patients’ progress.
• Conduct daily reviews of hospitalised children and make discharge or referral decisions.
• Communicate treatment plans and patients’ progress to parents and guardians.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Participate in medical team training and implement infection prevention and control measures.
• Provide medical consultations to ALIMA staff and their dependents as assigned.
Requirements
• MBBS with full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
• Experience with children under five is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and a local language (Hausa or Kanuri) is essential.
• Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong communication, teamwork, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing situations and handle emergencies.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism and quality healthcare.
