Job Title: Fuel Accountant

Location: Nigeria

Reports to: Financial Controller

Department: Finance

United Nigeria Airlines, a wholly owned Nigerian company, is seeking a Fuel Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing fuel vendor accounts, reporting fuel uplifts, negotiating pricing, and ensuring data integrity of fuel-related information. The Fuel Accountant will play a key role in controlling and reconciling all aviation fuel-related transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in transaction postings and reporting.

Responsibilities:

– Obtain invoices and delivery documents for aviation fuel uplift on a daily basis from all stations

– Reconcile vendor statements of accounts with airline records on a daily basis

– Maintain comprehensive and updated records of fuel-related information in the prescribed format

– Ensure prompt and proper posting of fuel-related invoices in Tally

– Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and month-end reports to the Executive Director and Financial Controller

– Scrutinize agreements with fuel vendors to ensure the airline’s best interest

– Perform periodic station visits to observe aircraft fueling processes and provide necessary guidance

– Recommend efficient processes and cost-saving measures in the management of aviation fuel for the airline

– Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting

– 3-5 years of experience in a similar role

– Airline experience is an added advantage

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites

– Strong commercial awareness

– Problem-solving and multitasking abilities

– Leadership and team-building skills

– Strong negotiation skills

– Numeracy and analytical ability

– Excellent presentation and communication skills

– Understanding of the airline sector

– High-level English skills

– Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
