Job Summary:
FMR AGENCY is looking for an experienced Road Construction Cost Engineer to manage cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control for road construction projects. The role involves analyzing project designs, assessing costs, and ensuring that the project adheres to budget constraints. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in civil engineering and construction financial management to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop detailed cost estimates for road construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine total cost estimates and identify areas for potential cost savings.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to refine project budgets and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor ongoing project costs, track expenditures, and forecast potential variances from budget.
• Ensure adherence to cost control procedures and report on cost trends and deviations from the project budget.
• Review bids and negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure cost efficiency.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and verify that work is being performed according to budget and schedule.
• Prepare financial reports and documentation on project costs for senior management and stakeholders.
Assist in value engineering and risk assessment to mitigate cost overruns and delays.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines for road construction and budgetary requirements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimation and cost control for road construction or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, Bluebeam).
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices specific to road and highway construction.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with government regulations, contracts, and standards related to road construction.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and financial controls.
