Job Title: Ship Chandling Supervisor
Location: Nigerian Ports (Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, etc.)

Job Summary:
The Ship Chandling Supervisor will oversee and manage the supply of essential goods and services to ships docking at Nigerian ports / working in Nigerian waters. This role involves liaising with shipping agents, port authorities, Customs authorities, Government departments and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of supplies, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with both local and international maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervision of Ship Supplies:
o Act as the primary point of contact for ships docking at the port / working in territorial waters, ensuring all requested supplies (food, fuel, water, spare parts, etc.) are delivered accurately and promptly.
o Collaborate with suppliers to arrange for the delivery of chandling services based on the ship’s schedule and requirements.
• Inventory Management:
o Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed to ensure adequate inventory is maintained at all times.
o Keep accurate records of all supplies in stock and update inventory systems regularly.
• Compliance and Documentation:
o Ensure that all supplied goods meet local regulatory standards and international maritime requirements.
o Prepare, submit, and manage relevant documentation, including customs clearance and invoices, in a timely manner.
o Ensure adherence to Nigerian port regulations and maritime safety protocols.
• Client and Stakeholder Liaison:
o Work closely with shipping agents, port authorities, customs officers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
o Respond to client inquiries and address concerns related to service quality, delays, or special requests.
• Operational Efficiency:
o Coordinate the timing of deliveries to minimize delays and ensure efficient supply to vessels within tight deadlines.
o Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement strategies to enhance service delivery efficiency.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
o Ensure all supplies and services adhere to HSE guidelines, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.
o Conduct regular safety checks and ensure compliance with maritime and port safety standards.
• Reporting and Performance Monitoring:
o Maintain accurate records of all transactions and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, supplier performance, and cost efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in ship chandling, logistics, or a related maritime role, preferably in Nigerian ports.
• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian port regulations and international maritime standards.
• Strong knowledge of customs clearance procedures and documentation.
Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
Other Requirements:
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, based on ship docking schedules.
• Must be physically fit and capable of working in a port environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between Nigerian ports as required.
