Job Title: HSE Supervisor
Reporting Line: Head of People and Operations
Location: Onsite, Kaduna State
Role Goals:
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace by preventing accidents.
• Minimizing risks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance
Align organizational practices with local and international safety regulations (e.g., compliance with bodies such as the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and other statutory authorities).
• Prevent Workplace Incidents
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to reduce accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses, and environmental hazards.
• Risk Identification & Mitigation
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to proactively identify hazards and implement control measures.
• Promote a Safety Culture
Train employees, drive safety awareness programs, and foster accountability at all levels of the organization.
• Environmental Protection & Sustainability
Ensure responsible waste management, pollution control, and compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., standards from the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency).
• Emergency Preparedness & Response
Establish and test emergency response plans to ensure readiness for incidents such as fire, spills, or equipment failure.
• Continuous Improvement
Monitor KPIs, analyze incident data, and improve systems in line with international standards such as International Organization for Standardization (e.g., ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 frameworks).
Minimum Qualification and Experience
1. Bachelor’s Degree in any of Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, etc.), Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, or any related discipline.
2. A Professional Certifications (at least one required; more is an advantage):
3. Familiarity with local labour and environmental regulations (e.g., requirements under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and environmental compliance standards enforced by National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency).
4. 5–8 years of progressive HSE experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
5. Experience in risk assessment & hazard identification, incident investigation & reporting, developing HSE policies and SOPs, conducting safety audits and inspections, training and safety awareness programs and regulatory compliance management.
